When somebody in the know is asked to think of a young, aggressive, fearless player, the name LuckyChewy necessarily comes to mind. Starting on PartyPoker at age 18, Andrew Lichtenberger admits he was - at best - a break even player. However, with the help of 2+2 and PokerTracker (he now prefers Hold'em Manager), Chewy was finally able to start fulfilling his potential. His journey was enhanced with a little help from his friends, friends like “aejones,” “jimmie23,” “gp333” and “ansky.” Thinking back, the only real challenge Andrew recalls was putting in the number of hours needed to succeed.
About the time he moved to $3-$6 NLH, he became bored with ring games. He made the jump from a cash player to a top tournament player without any poker-related issues. For proof, we need look no further than the 2009 WSOP. Now old enough to play live in the USA, LuckyChewy was the runner-up in the $5,000 NLH Shootout and placed 18th in the Main Event. For those of you doing the math at home, he cashed for $750,960. Not bad. Not bad at all.
More recently, Andrew final tabled a WPT (4th, $218,933) and an Epic Poker event (2nd, $514,480) in just two weeks and is consistently ranked in the top 50 of the GPI (Global Poker Index).
Chewy now plays a mix of high stakes cash games and tournaments. A laid back individual, Chewy's current plans are limited to “traveling to the tropics and beyond.” Of course, Andrew also hopes to continue to improve his game and become a $50/$100NL+ regular. The future certainly looks bright for this poker prodigy. At the very least, he seems sufficiently bankrolled. Coaching
