Marvin "steel108" Steele has a poker story that mirrors many successful players in today's poker economy-- develop a love for the game, sprinkle some success to grow the addiction, and choose to use his skills on the felt over his MBA. Okay, maybe everything except that last part.
Marvin knows what it's like to work a crappy job. Throughout the majority of his schooling, he had to hump two jobs at a time to make ends meet. Poker is where it's at though for the 28 year old.
"A real world job just can't compare to playing poker for a living," Marvin said. "Your pay is a direct function of your abilities, something that is very rare in the real world. And even playing your best doesn't mean you will make money; pretty hard pill to swallow."
A unique perspective from someone with a unique background. Marvin has demolished 200NL over the course of his poker career. Things have began to pickup lately, as he credits his ability to think outside of the poker box to great minds like Phil Galfond and Dani Stern. As his game constantly evolves, his love for the game still grows.
