Started playing sng´s at first, did that for about four months or so until I found cash games in January of 07. Started at low stakes and found my way up to playing 2/4 as my main game by the end of the year. From then onwards, it has been a very slow and gradual climb up to 5/10. I always felt the need to have confidently dismantled a stake before moving up, and in retrospect I feel that the difference in players between stakes was something I greatly overestimated every time.
I would move up, and the same guys I had been playing with a couple of months earlier would sit there. My winrates through the stakes have been remarkably consistent, always hovering around 5 ptbb except for my 2007 year when I was beating the games for a lot more than that, thinking it was standard. Small sample, perhaps, or maybe the games did change that much without me noticing.
