ASU has a good PhD program. Personal training is for some people not for me i guess, I am more into the whole I hope I can do something to help a population as a whole, call it ambitious i guess lol.

I think that's admirable...feeling like you've improved the lives of a bunch of people is hugely rewarding. What is the earning potential like for someone with your education?

Well thanks for the self confidence boosting statement. Earning potential is relative to experience job title and what not. Lets say just for grins that between 55-70k a year starting out and if by some chance you become tenured and become perhaps a head of a department at a major research university more like 100 - 125k a dean of a college at a major research university like 125-250k. These are all hypothetical cause they base pay on research essentially and years. Also consulting work for PhD's pays well. My goal is to have 6 figure income by the time i am 35. That will be sustainable and have good benefits to go along with it.

Hiya.

I tore my ACL playing soccer a while back, had the necessary operation on my knee afterward. The operation was about six months ago. I have lost a bit of weight and muscle mass during the time I spent recovering. Since then i have mostly done static exercises for my leg, and some cardio in the form of riding a bike.

I feel pretty good now, and am ready for a more complete work out program. I have a little bit of belly fit which I would like to lose, but other than that I'm pretty satisfied with how I look. I'd like to gain a few kilos in the muscle department and basically get myself really fit and healthy.

Is there an optimal workout routine, which would allow me to do cardio and weights, and what supplement products would you recommend? I'm not asking you for a detailed workout plan, but rather for a few pointers and advice on what I should stay away from, especially nutrition wise. People make mistakes when they start doing something, and I'd be very happy if I could avoid some of them by paying notice to your advice.

Thanks. :)

well i would see how your stomach reacts to food when you exercise. Eating just before you go is a BAD idea in general, your body cannot metabolize the food that quickly so waiting an hour is optimal if you are eating relative low density carbs and fats. Of course that means getting up earlier.

Here is what i recommend: Get up eat a peice of toast with jelly on it or something with simple sugars like a banana or apple, just to kinda give you some energy. Mess around doing what ever for like 20 minutes then go for your run after that have your protein shake and eggs then shower, it will be efficent and effective.

Good luck let me know how it works, some people get GI discomfort with eating before exercise.

Well i would start out by doing both cardio and weights. Cardio is what i recommend for health, lifting does not really increase your "health" just appearance strength and what not. Supplements are give and take. A: They cost money. B. Some are worth the results, others are not. C. Know what you need. D. My moto is that you get whatever you need with a good healthy diet and a multivitamin, unless you intend to be a body builder you do not need anything other that that.

Hope that help, if oyu have any more question let me know or PM me.

Every day I take wellman nutrion tablets and omega 3,6,9 combi tablets from Holland and Barrett. Are these good as general supplements?
