Default [50nl]HU tough river spot...

Hero (BTN/SB): $52.25
BB: $47.10

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BTN/SB with 7 7
Hero raises to $1.50, BB calls $1

Flop: ($3.00) 2 3 4 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $3.00, BB raises to $9, Hero calls $6

Turn: ($21.00) 8 (2 players)
BB bets $13.00, Hero calls $13

River: ($47.00) Q (2 players)
BB bets $23.60

against a who calls a wide range pf and check-raises a lot of flops. can we make a case for a hero call here in this spot when all the draws missed?

thanks.

can't call that turn and fold that river imo.

Not really a hero call on river if you're calling turn for value

agree with Tom that you shouldn't be calling that turn if you were going to fold to a "blank" river

I'd probably lay it down unless he's been barreling alot of his air, since you said he was c/r a lot of flops..you should know by now if he was just as likely to be weak as strong there

how many times has he barreled the turn and river after the check raise on flop?

good point. i guess i really didn't think about it when i called the flop c/r. he continues on a lot of turns but on the river sometimes he checks, sometimes he bets. really confusing spot for me as he could still continue with his draws and if i decide to call turn i should call river.

and the thing is i am not really sure what he's capable of on the river.

A decent part of his range is draws. Is there any merit to shove on the turn for value as well as protection?

Not if he shoves those draws on the river when they miss

I don't really like this hand. It's ok to get bluffed now and then and fold out the best hand, it's good discipline to just pitch a hand like this on the turn. just be sure to pay attention to what he does on the turn when he c'rs a lot of flops. most players are pretty transparent and will give up w/ their air but continue with their nutted hands. especially if he is flatting wide pre he can have a lot of horseshit on that flop that has you in bad shape.
