Interesting thread. I've had some issues vs. some of these players as well and it feels like Isura's post will really help. Another thing to keep in mind is that you can start taking fairly frequent stabs at the pot after checkfolding a few times against a lot of these villains, because they've started to expect you to have some kind of a hand when you bet.

The biggest problem with this is that you have to be able to 'nickel and dime' people who limp the button. This is why I limp the button against people who play well preflop, as soon as you maximize your effective stacks postflop, you increase your Won When Saw Flop.

Intresting post aejones. I have played almost exclusively HU the last weeks and I have noticed that alot of players play very well preflop but then sucks post (i.e calls too much, bluffs too much etc etc).

Tonight I'm gonna try limp my button sometimes when I play someone like this and I'll post my thoughts here later.

when is limping HU optimal? What kind of hands would you limp? When do you decide a hand has too much equity to limp?

limping hu is optimal when your opponent plays super aggro preflop, but also has good frequencies

limp hands that are too good to fold but too bad to raise and call a 3-bet, think hands like connectors and some unconnected suited stuff

ae, how often are you calling a 4x raise after limping the button? And what kind of hands are you limp/rrs?

In the 200NL HU games i currently play on stars i would say that everyone who consistently limps the button are weak tight fish. I commonly do two things that effectively destroys them.
1. If i have pure garbage I check the bb donk every flop and give up if raised or on unimproved turns.
2. After raising 3 or 4x I figure out what my perceived range is on flops. I dont really bet low flops if i dont hit them and I always bet Ace high flops, 1 to 3 face cards, and the typical dry, uncoordinated flops. I basically run over them and show up with a real hand when i need to and i dont have many problems. I dont carry much aggression past the flop unless i feel like I have the best hand.
