I might be wrong, but usually if I catch a player bet calling all but the strongest of draws he gets a 'bad reg' label. It's a stretch that he'd bet call showdown value of 7 hi, and also a stretch that bluffs even continue....

imo

b/c. even if checking is slightly better in a vacuum (which im not sure it is), b/c works a lot better for overall game

What hands are gonna call the flop, that are giving up on a turn barrel?
So, what makes bet-calling here sometimes better than checking? You have only 32% equity vs his calling range if he calls with 1 pair, say QQ.

I agree that I generally almost always bet this turn. Reason being I think I can fold out some of his better hands like overpairs or tptk. Betting this turn also helps balance for when you have sets which is why it works better for overall game. If you end up checking and showing down ur ace high combo draw, ppl will know when u fire the turn you probably have air/nuts and no draws in ur range.

However with OP's read that villain wont give up overpairs, I think there's not as much value that comes out of bet/calling.

Villian "shouldn't" be check-raising just about anything... but some guys do, which is why I'm not really slam-dunk sold on bet-call (I randomly see guys go "fuck it" with 98 here even at 5-10). Technically he should be calling down his bluff catchers and b3b'ing the flop with a lot of stuff probably (although certainly not always).

"Villian "shouldn't" be check-raising just about anything"

Because he thinks c/ring the turn is horrible 99% of the time. But I do agree with you I don't think a C/R on this spot is bad in this spot with so many draws out there.

Agree.
But with all the nasty cards on the river a checkraise to protect isn't all that bad, or is it?
Assuming he has a hand like KK here, there's a lot of cards he can be affraid of.
Plz elaborate on the bad things of checkraising turn some more Mr Jones.
