Default Sickest River Play Ever

Hi Leggopoker!

I was told this hand is on 2+2 but I couldn't find it. Forgive me if I get one or two details wrong but the river is the most important part and its siiiiiiiiiiiiiik

I am not allowed to reveal the hero or villain. Neither is me. Both are very good online high stakes pro's, one of them extremely well known.

5 handed 25/50. Villain raises to 175, hero calls in position with 65hh

Flop Q 9 5 two diamonds. villain bets $425, hero calls.

turn 2s, villain bets $975, hero calls.

river Ad, villain bets $2650, hero goes all in for $4040 total, villain folds (!!)

Hero's explanation was that by shoving the river instead of calling, he forces out the very bottom of villains calling range for that shove. so for instance he would fold slightly better hands to his pair of 5's, or so the theory goes.

i think this is a highly interesting hand and i'd be interested to hear what the leggopoker gurus have to say about it

It's very important, in my opinion, which cards on the flop are diamonds here.

This looks really bad to me at first thought (assuming he raised only ~1500 more all in).

i saw this on 2+2, i think it was just a brag post in HSNL censored thread

i dont know if you can really analyse this in a standard way, it looks weird on paper but obviously just a feel thing, like he was so sure villain was bluffing on the scariest card in the deck that he was willing to put the extra 1500 in for the times villain was turning something like TT or T9 or 66 or another 5 into a bluff. definitely a pretty crazy/interesting spot.

It is sick, but sick does not mean it's good. Normally he should fold turn.

Are we allowed to mention the hero if we have seen the HH on 2+2?

From what I can gather he has a bit of a rep. for making sick plays like this. Which would obv. influence the villains calling range if he was aware of it. Also wasnt stuff said in chat after the shove?

I might be thinking of the wrong hand though.

Also Im with Ae about the diamonds.

It looks weird but this spot has to be so player and history dependent to not be spew, I dont think its very easy to comment on just from the actions. Also fwiw in spots like this timing imo is very important against some villians.

one possible explanation,

Hero has seen villan 3-barrel bluffing too often before and as it's hard to make flushes heads up villan is likely to be bluffing the scare card. Also hero knows villan might be worried hero was floating and hero will choose to bluff this river a high percentage of the time. In other words each player wants to stop the other from bluffing them out too ofen.

If you're a clever one you can figure out which flop cards are diamonds.
