I have been staked and have staked. Not all were profitable, but I have very good experience in the staking business.

It wasn't really bad ass huge amounts of money (some 50NL and 100NL bankrolls), but for me it worked. I have played for people that had never seen me irl. We made solid rules and agreed on percentages and payment terms. I would recommend only starting these kind of deals with people who are well known in the community. Ofcourse I have staked some personal friends irl as well, but that was for live games.

Lightbulb! Why hasn't Leggo got a forum section where you can sell and buy action in each other? The Dutch Pokernews forums have that (I used to work for them as chief mod) and it's the biggest active group on the forums. People who don't like it can hide it from the index, so wont be bothered. Would generate extra traffic for Leggo and increases community feeling.

There! A free business idea. Now stake me!

Basically b/c it attracts a lot of scammers/spammers. If there's a high demand for it, perhaps it will be something to think about.

You'll need to define strict rules ofcourse and have a dedicated mod monitoring the section.

agree with robbie,

you can buy/sell action through your blog and many people do at their own/others risk, there really is no need for a forum.

My advice would be to know who you can and can't trust. Poker skill runs a distant second to actually getting paid if they win.

I back a few people that I have known for awhile online and have never been dicked over. They all play either 100 or 200NL cash and it can definitely be profitable if you find the right people. I don't think I would ever do it with someone I didn't know unless they had an outstanding reputation with many different people I knew and trusted in the poker community though.

back me for MTT's. I'm too afraid to make the optimal plays when it's my money and my prize at stake. I'm a marginal winner/casual player who's starting to get into tourneys more!!

Never going to be a better time for staking than now imo, that said it is tough. Make sure your horses are people you trust and understand exactly why they need a stake.

Staking for cash is hard, its definitely much harder to find people than MTT players.

With cash as said before, you will have a high player turnover as players can be staked for 1 or 2 months and already have enough for a bankroll, so you will need to do all you can to keep hold of them. Therefore always keep in touch with old players, most will go bust and need another stake. Also always have a good relationship with your players. Your players are a lot less likely to leave a stake if it means they might lose there relationship with someone that they talk to on a daily basis, some will stay even if they don't need it.
