Default help with paying bills with poker monies???

hi ive been playing poker seriously for 4 years online and live. ive moved to vegas about 4 months ago with my girlfriend and two kids(3 and 2) to play poker for a living.
before ive had multiple ways of making income and always made a descent amount of money however ive always been bad with planning ahead and budgeting. for YEARS now ive been just kinda playing by ear and be like "ok rent is due tomorrow so i gotta come up with some money. i was mixing my bankroll and life monies together and im finally realizing that its not working and i need to change. because of this ive not been moving up in stakes like i wanted to and should of a long time ago. my main game now in vegas is 2/5nl but sometimes i have to move down cause i dont manage my winnings properly. before black friday i was also playing 200nl and 100nl online.
so how do most professional players manage their monies? i know people say to have x amount of buy ins for the stake your playing but whats the best way to budget with your winnings?
do you take a certain % to build your bankroll and a % to savings and and the rest to bills? can anyone tell me specifically how their doing it if all they do for money is play poker and have bills they have to pay.
thank you in advance for the help

I think everyone will do this differently.
Personally I always have a long term plan. Since I started poker I have never given poker a permanent number 1 priority. The long term plan (back then: finishing my Bsc and Msc ) was always more important.

In the beginning I've focused on building a bankroll: 40BI as a minimum spread over different sites and e-wallets. For live poker I think it is a little differnt. Anyway I didn't cash out before 200nl (10k br).

Keeping them seperate is important, it just messes up your mind if you lose a lot while you need the money for something else. The 40BI might seem overdone to someone not doing BR management, but to me it's minimum I've found useful a few times before. I am a solid winner at the midstakes, yet last month I encountered a 25BI swing, those are harsh and can put you back big time. Make sure that the bankroll does not add pressure, during a swing there is plenty pressure.

BTW:
Above 40BI the money is free to spend, I've used that to pay for my studies / save / stocks / bonds.

What are you spending your money on?

If you are managing your bankroll incorrectly because you have to buy baby stuff there is not much you can do. If you are spending cash on extracurricular stuff like clubbing or eating out often I think it's pretty easy to see how to manage your savings and bankroll better.

thx for the replies guys, its much appreciated. probability... in the past when i had more money, and was making more, i would spend it on extracurricular stuff as well as bills. now, mostly the baby stuff and bills but with less to work with. because of that i really wanna start learning how to budget properly with a little so when i have a lot again i wont get in this spot anymore. i wasnt taught this as a kid so everything i made was treated like "new money"

I would write out your budget. X amount for bills and X amount for extracurricular stuff. No matter how much you make you shouldn't spend more than your X amount that was already pre determined on extra stuff that really isn't needed.
