Default 400nl 3bet facing river card with bluff

Party, $2/$4 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

SB: $194.64
BB: $140
UTG: $400
MP: $1,937.14
Hero (CO): $414.08
BTN: $744

Pre-Flop: K Q dealt to Hero (CO)
2 folds, Hero raises to $12, BTN raises to $36, 2 folds, Hero calls $24

Flop: ($78) 7 8 9 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($78) 2 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $40, Hero raises to $116, BTN calls $76

River: ($310) 6 (2 Players)
hero ($262 Eff) ??

PRE
vilian: Tag 3bets btn vs co 14% we have some history he likes to cbet and his betting freq are high
is capable of folding hands
hero: folds 68% vs 3bets

My plan was to x/r turn ship river, he was tanking quite long on the turn and decided to call so at that point i was sure he had a marginal hand (especially after his flop check) now the 6 comes and improves our opponents range is it still a profitable ship?

Really terrible river card imo. Some marginal hands improve on this river, some marginal hands make hero calls since fd misses and they polarize you on this river so I would give up on this card.

shove, you literally cant have a worse hand here really, and im guessing since u flat KQo here u have a somewhat substantial value range, especially with the implications of villains flop check

I agree, and wouldnt play any hands like this, but he did which implies he probably plays value hands like this(i hope). Wouldnt worry about it too much when we have like the nut low basically.. esp with villains flop check

I flatt preflop because i have a strong perceived range oop and when i miss i would try to win the pot postflop, so i take this line because i also play my valuehands this way.. i guess it's pretty standard for me i take different lines so i can't do that only with valuehands..

imo river is not really a shove he could only have 9J+, or some random hand like 8Js but mostly he has Tx here because i think he would bet the flop with FD's, and 2p+

there is no reason to go for a turn cr on offsuit two here unless you have a strong reason to believe he delayed cbets this a bunch (in which case you are prob still better off betting turn shoving river with a lot of your range given that it makes his range tougher to play)

river has to be a shove for the reasons d2 stated pretty much .. oh and from the looks of your thought process and the range you assign him on im not sure this is even a profitable flat pre

hmm, i was thinking that every single river card is going to be an unprofitable one to shove on. can't see anyone folding a pair here unless they level themselves.

also you might consider that when someone is tanking on the turn it can be because they are planning what they are going to do on the river. So they could be thinking "should i fold or call then call a river shove."
