Default 6$ QQ v awkward flop raise in rr pot

$3/$6 No Limit Holdem
5 Players
Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com

Stacks:
UTG ($726)
CO ($600)
BTN ($820)
SB ($126)
Hero ($685.90)

Pre-Flop: ($9, 5 players) Hero is BB Q Q
1 fold, CO raises to $18, 2 folds, Hero raises to $57, CO calls $39

Flop: 8 7 K ($117, 2 players)
Hero bets $56, CO raises to $135

From what I've seen of villain so far, he is an aggressive preflop player and a regular in these games. I've been somewhat active preflop so I expect villains calling range to be a little wider than usual.
I find his flop raise doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I think he's pretty unlikely to have AA, AK here and even then I think he would flat this flop a large percentage of the time.
There is a small chance he has a hand like 88, 77, 87s and got overexcited after seeing this flop so I won't exclude those from his range, but heavily discount them. I don't think his line makes sense w/t9s, 56s, because he's letting himself be bet off of a reasonable amount of equity by raising when he can't call.
I guess there's a small chance he's playing levelling games w/a k or one of the afermentioned strong hands, but I don't have any history or inclination that would lead be to believe that necessarily.
What do you guys think about this spot? What is your plan for the rest of the hand?

Thanks for comments in advance.

Have you ever seen villian take this line?? As you said most of his hands make no sense on this board. I would probably call the flop and evaluate turn with the plan of calling most turn bets.

I'd have a hard time folding this. I'd begin by calling the raise and see what happens. Some players only fire 2, some 3 etc. I think the decision is made on later streets and see if we can pick any sort of information up, whether it be the playertype or betsize/board.

+1

The board is so dry there is really no reason to raise anything. The only way you are beat is if he is playing leveling games; his line just looks like BS.

This is a 3bet pot. Stacks will be really awkward if we flat this.. about 1 psb left. Will be pretty hard to muck that. But I have to admit that if there is one type of board where we can flat this raise and still rep strength it is on this board.

BTW why can't villain play KQ/ KJ like this? How does he perceive you? Do you cbet any flop? Did you cbet-jam a thin hand before? Don't underestimate his capability to deviate from standard and play back at your tendencies.

I mean I have multiple times defended QT at the CO/BTN vs a blind 3bet and raised a Qhi flop to induce. Plenty villains who jam AKhi, underpairs and bare draws.

Most people don't raise here with those hands because it's hard to get value from worse. This is where we start leveling ourselves. I just assume villan plays hands in standard ways unless he shows me different. I'm not folding this. If villan shows up with Kx then I'm making a note and adjusting.
