Default Extract with an Overbet

5/10nl live Ive played with villain in previous sessions but this is the first time at 5/10. In a previous session I saw him make a very big call with TP medium kicker snapping off some bluff that potted 3 streets he definitely makes some good folds as well, good player IMO. He has mentioned several of my good plays during a session so I would he views me as a TAG with some moves. This particular session Ive had one bluff called and shown and shown some very nice light call downs.

Villain 1500
Hero covers.

Villain open raises to $50 in the CO I call in the SB with 33 all else fold.

Flop comes 8 6 3
Check, check.

Turn comes K
I check, Villain bets $75, I check raise to $275, Villain calls after some consideration.

River comes a 8
I lead $750

Looks good, he's got AK or a facecard king everyday and twice on sundays, and you've almost never got an 8, your range is very polarized to boat/ missed draws (or queered two pair, anything without showdown value).

I think it's a good play as well.

I agree with his range being a K. Thoughts about check-raising river? (He prob has to value bet the river and a cr looks weird he might pay it off who knows.)

The problem is that live players seen very little value in betting KQ (or sometimes even AK) on this river.

I'm not even sure if he should be value betting this river with KQ or AK, in fact I'm pretty sure he shouldn't live and FR, unless he's got a sick read that it is to induce a CR... other than that, it's a check behind because of how polarized our turn CRing range is (and subsequently should be).

I think 600 is better. You've seen him make big calls, and so I think an overbet looks more like a tricky bet hoping he calls. People naturally don't want to attract extra attention when bluffing, so I think 750 just looks too suspicious and he'll err on the side of folding. I agree with aejones that checking the river is bad. He really shouldn't bet a K for value given your line unless he thinks you're sick enough to c/r like 44 in this spot and then check/call the river when the draws miss. And that is pretty far fetched, since it would actually be a pretty terrible line with 44 given that villain will check behind 55/77/6x

Yeah I agree with everything Isura said. In a live ring game I would rather not set off the "is he trying to be tricky" alarm bells and just make sure I get called. And yeah checking would be bad.

Checking is pretty gross, and I'm not sure how much I like an overbet live. Even online, not so sure. People play so damn conservative in general, I'd rather go 500 or 550 and just get paid by his AK, cuz he's gonna sit there and think and think, then curse his luck and call with that hand.
