5NL: Standard way to play AK?
I know this is as basic as it gets, but what's the standard thing to do here?
Villain is 27/17. No 3-bets in 86 hands
Full Tilt, $0.02/$0.05 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter
SB: $5.62
Hero (BB): $10.37
UTG: $4.36
MP: $2.47
CO: $7.79
BTN: $6.12
Pre-Flop: A K dealt to Hero (BB)
3 folds, BTN raises to $0.17, SB folds, Hero raises to $0.50, BTN raises to $1.52

Also, holdem manger has those nice buttons for copying the hand history to the clipboard, but when I paste them into the converter here it gives errors. I'm playing on FullTilt. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Re: 5NL: Standard way to play AK?
I usually just shove here since we are out of position, if he has aces or kings oh well, and it doesn't really bother me that he hasn't 3bet yet in 86 hands. I shove for fold equity because I know if he calls I'm usually not in that bad of shape. Make sure you've got a loose image to shove this though.

I was thinking it was 10NL, ya this is a shove with a loose image or not.

Re: 5NL: Standard way to play AK?
OK thanks for the responses. I haven't really played for a couple years and just started picking it up again. Before I took a break, this would have been an instashove for me.
Now it seems like at the lower micro levels, there are two types of players...ones that 3bet with way too much, and ones that only 3bet with AA KK QQ. I felt like this guy was in the second category. When the hand came up I thought about it a while, folded, and then thought wtf did I just do??
