Default Starting with MTT

Hi guys,

I play 50NL 6-max cash and I am thinking of playing in the weekends some tournaments since I heard it's more +EV. Reason I want to continue to also play cash is because it's less variance, I want to reach 200NL (it's my ego) and I can keep a better sleep schedule. (tournaments till late at night most of the time if u run good). Also because I simply think cash is awesome. Is MTT a stupid idea if you want to move up the stakes with cash at the same time? I mean, I still have a lot to learn for 6-max, but maybe MTT can also be a nice bankroll booster and it's also a bit more exciting. What are your thoughts on this guys?

I play 200nl and 400nl and I add tourneys in the weekends , the bigger 55$ and the 215$ sunday mil every sunday.
Be prepared for a lot of variance and monkey villains worse than on the cash games.
The problem is that if you don't grind tourneys with good volume you might wait a long time for results.
If my example helps you somehow here it is:
I've only managed to play 322 tourneys, I have 17k profits I'm on a 4k downswing, after my first 2 months I was down 3k, so I face swings because the lack of volume, hopping to put some volume at the WCOOP.
The general rule is that if you beat cash on the long run you beat tourneys on the long run.
Watch some frank1thetank1 vids, document yourself about tournament stages and how to play with 5-10BBs, 20BBs, 30BBs and so on and you should be just fine.
In conclusion adding some tourneys on weekends it's a good idea if you use your bankroll wise

Tnx man.

Edit: Start with some SNG's is a good idea right? To learn some shove spots etc. And there is also something like ICM calculator? If it's in the vids, just say that Bye

I don't know, never saw that in the vids, about the shove spots etc you may want to read the old "harrington on holdem" (3 volumes), it has good info that you can use in 2011 even though it is written a couple of years ago. It also has a lot of examples/spots for the reader to work.

Forget about Harrington, i read this books when they came out and they were great, but there is a lot of basic stuff in it that every donkey knows today.

A very very very good book for todays tournamets is: Winning Pokertournaments, by apestylz, pearljammer and rizen. I read both books this year, there are only handexpamples in these books, but every spot is just very good explained. Buy it now, thank me later
