Default Dusty Schmidt's Poker Book?

Has anyone read Dusty Schmidt's book "Treat your Poker like a Business"?

I am thinking about buying it but wanted some feed back first.

Ive read it, it has some good insight into how you show be treating the game away from the table. Some good mental insights. It has an extremely small strategy section so dont expect this to be a book on how to play.

It relates more to his climb to success and how to be mentally prepared, shut off outside interference, how poker affects family members. Its a good read.

The best part that i remember is him relating that every table you play on is like a franchise of your business, if you dont table select well then its like you have a store located in a poor area and you should move the store.

I've read it as well and it's nice to read about how you can improve your overall EV by making changes to how you approach the game itself and not individual hands. It makes sense in that things like tilt and distractions can cost you money just as easily as a leak in your game can.

You can read a summary on his site here and decide if it's for you. http://dustyschmidt.net/about_dusty_...ss-poker-book/

I dunno how you feel about your overall poker mindset but I felt like it made me more serious about my playing. I mean these are actual dollars we're playing for and I certainly wasn't giving it the seriousness it warranted previously.

It is ok, but all pretty basic stuff. You should wait for Jared Tendler's book if cost is an issue. I think it will be more worthwhile and informative for the mental game stuff

Isura, do you know when that book is going to come out? If it's half as good as Dusty's I'm going to snap buy it.

Man a lot of the concepts that seem to be in the book seem pretty straightforward and logical... maybe cuz I have a degree in business and relate poker with business pretty easily. I dont know if its really worth it to spend money on something like that... for that kinda info I'd probably just give it away for free in a blogpost or something.

I guess this post will come off as me being a hater but oh well.

Is it similar to "The Poker Mindset"? If so, which is you better (sorry to derail this thread slightly).

I think both books have a different approach on getting the right mindset but I think the Poker Mindset is still the better one in the end. It's close though. I do agree that if you have any business courses, you can implement that into your poker (business) as well
