Default Getting Started

Hey everyone @ Leggo,

A bunch of my friends have been playing a home game of $.25/$.50 NLHE this Summer and every so often I join them. However, every time I've played with them I lost! They relentlessly bust my balls about it and I thought it'd be a nice surprise if I returned to their home game and made 'em all go broke :P. I do understand that it takes a long time to get a good handle on the game, but I'm patient.

I know enough about cards to be dangerous (I've been playing Gin with my family for a long time) but barely anything about poker. My friend (he's not from the home game, thankfully) referred me to this site, but I don't know where to start. Being a newbie to the game, point me in the right direction so I can graciously return the favor to my friends.

Muchos Gracias.

I wish I did it. I think it was Tickner who made that one.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not 100% sure what most of the statistics mean when talking about certain hands, like 40/20/10, or whatever it is. Is there anything with a little bit more of a building the basics?
