Default How to optimally watch a video?

I think a lot of you guys noticed that I always ask every question that comes up in my mind when I watch a video at Leggopoker. However, I started to think about this lately. For example when I watch a leakfinder or just a liveplay video, I try to find leaks in heros play, instead of in my own, and write those questions down. Since I am still a fish, I think there is something wrong with my approach to watching videos, because I think I don't realize what mistakes I make when I see another coach. I just think ''I would do that too, I would do that too, oh wait, that's a mistake, let's ask about it''. I am just curious how do you guys think it is optimal to watch a video.

Tell urself (sometimes pause if it's complicated spot) what you would do before coach makes a move and why, and when it's different, write it down?

Also remember some ways to watch first without audio. Would like to hear more about that if people learn a lot from this.

Tnx in advance guys

Edit: did find this: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...27&postcount=8 but maybe you guys have got better ideas

I usually pause the vid, and thinking through what I would have done, and then continue and see what the vid producer did. I do this in every semi interesting spot. I think this is a pretty good way to watch videos. Important thing though imo is to always be thinking and to as concentrated as if u played a session, cuz if u just watch the vid, kind of without thinking u arn't gonna get anything out of it.

@TheStudent.. you are far from being a fish

I normally take notes during a video, i made a poker memoir that outlines general strategies that i pick up in the vids.. HU/6 Max/FR play, e.g how much to open from each position. what to do vs LAG and TAG

Note taking systems helps. (this is sort of merging into my memoirs a bit)

Color Coding---

Green – tight / passive - you should aim to play straightforward against these players and C-bet a lot of hands out of position.

Red – aggressive / loose, fold out of position especially to 3 bets, c bet rarely without a made hand because they will be used to this play themselves and will often bluff raise you. Try to keep the pots small against these players with medium strength hands particularly when out of position.

Purple – Loose/ passive, bet strong with strong and medium hands, make thin bets on the river, don’t bluff or fire multiple bullets against these players as they will call a lot lighter than most other players.

Blue – Tight aggressive, fold to their strong bets, bluff raise often as their ranges will be quite "nutted or nothing"

Gold – Top Regs, Avoid playing more than 1 of these opponents at once as they play optimal poker and adjust well to the flow of a game. You really need to avoid them sitting on the left side of you.

Sorry i went off on a tangent.. but i try and build on a series of things i learn in videos and pause the video and add it to my document with all my information saved up.

Every now and then i will read all the things the video has taught me as saved in dot point form on my saved document
