Default Poker Math

Do you think knowing the mathematics behind the game is very important, somewhat important and not important at all. Where can you learn about pot odds, implied odds and calculating EV?

these concepts are all very important. do you need to a mathematical beast to be good at poker? no.

pot odds and calculating ev are both very mathematically definitive concepts. use a formula, get an exact answer.

implied odds is a little more complicated in that you will know (as best as possible) your implied odds in given situations based on experience rather than a formula.

very important imo

But I'm a math nerd and do the "math" behind plays all the time....after all, EV can be calculated, and if all info is known, there "is" a correct play afterall.

Very important but doesnt mean you cant be a winner w/o it. Also matters less at the higher stake games and when playing deep imo

I think as long as u know basic math like pot odds, implied odds and such you can do fine. It's def better to know more though.

Pretty much any poker book has explanations of all these things. If you really want to get into it i hear "the mathmatics of poker" is really good by Bill Chen and some other guy.
