hmm from the sounds of it we may all be talking about the same type of deal but it was just lost in translation. Now it seems that Flav wasnt saying that its impossible to make money without 3betting 5%+ but was just saying that its not optimal.

If in a perfect world I woul have massive reads on anyone on my table why should I ever 3bet in the first place? To cut down on my edge postflop?

Seriously guys, there is no rule in Poker that you have to have a stat X of higher than Y to win money in Poker.

Just as an example. I do 3bet QJss in the SB to not get played back from the unknown BB. But if I had the read on BB that he never squeezes light and I had the read on the BTN that he plays fot or fold postflop, why should I even consider 3betting? To strengthen his calling range?

Just play to the best of your ability and pay attention, make reads and stuff and dont believe you have to have a certain stat higher than X.

I guess you're not familiar with the games nowadays. The times were you could make tonnes of money bumhunting fish and 3betting only for value are gone. The ranges have to be wider in each spot to make money and a 5% 3betting range is almost the nuts. The money come from fish but also from exploiting bad regs and taking them out of confort zone and 3betting 5% doesn't acomplish that. To create reads you gotta create dynamics, to create dynamics you gotta 3bet more and more, but I'm done explaining you why having a higher 3bet % is important. You just have your opinion and that's it, everybody is wrong but you.

this made me lol, alot. you're not cutting any edge when 3betting. people aren't stacking off light in normal raised pots, but they get attached to 3bet pots cuz they put more money pre, and this is where they make mistakes, while playing a normal pot, you just have to cooler them to stack them. stop listening that leatherass crap about cuting edges when 3betting, you're not!

I dont think NIkachu nor Jballer leave any money at the tables w/ their 6% 3bet and I also dont think they are bumhunting in any way AND they are crushing their levels.

I really get your point and I understand that taking someone out of their comfort zone is +EV but it still doesnt mean your 3bet stat has to be higher than X to crush, cos thats what your point is and I guess my 2 players proofed differently, right?

regardless, your comments are off about 3betting % as usually, especially in a game theory sense there are probably correct ranges of stats that you should play (i.e. vpip of 60% is definitely -ev) but 5% 3bet definitely falls into the range of "more optimal" strat.

with regards to the OP, i think your complaint is that you play stylistically different that grog, not that he isn't a good player. Obviously some plays can be looked at as marginal/bad in a vacuum but incorporated into an overall strategy makes them a lot better than they appear.
