def agree with bluffing more spots that fit your lines along with value betting thinner to merge your bluff ranges. I mean most people don't really think about it too much at the mid stakes levels, but as you move up or play hu consitantly more it is def a key factor in growing as a player.

good post as well ggplz.

i honestly don't see that number being positive as definitively a good thing. It could easily mean you are c-betting / barreling way too much in spots where its perhaps more optimal to try to showdown, or valuebetting way too thinly in general.

yea in general i woudlnt worry about winning w/o sd unless u are losing a lot w/o sd. If ur losing a lil or winning a lil or winning a lot w/o sd then dont worry about it

Default Re: Having A Positive Win W/O Showdown?

i think there are several ways to increase your ww/oSD

1) pick your spots to cbet a little more carefully OOP
if you're cbetting too much oop to people who are playing loose against you in position and are floating you a lot, choose spots more carefully. if you are cbetting and giving up every turn, this is incredibly weak and exploitable and will kill your red line.

2) play stronger in position
on the other hand, think about the spots where you have trouble continuing in a hand, and put the same pressure on other people. at 100NL, i have noticed a ton of people trying to steal the blinds a lot (steal from sb % > 30) from the sb into the bb. i think this is a great spot to play position and take away their cbets on dry boards. against these players, float a lot preflop and either float good flops that give you bluff outs or raise dry boards where the initial raiser has air most of the time.

3) value bet thinner on the river
this obvs comes with stronger hand reading but pick the streets that you're going to get value from in a hand. it's good to have a plan of what kind of value you can get from a particular type of player. if you find yourself c-betting flop and turn with top pair and just cking behind the river you might be missing some value.

these are just a few adjustments that will help your redline. there are of course more but if you aren't doing these things you're missing out on some profit out there.
