Default Playing Sets on dry flops OOP vs different types

My reckoning is that playing sets more aggressively vs some types can be more profitable on dry flops than other opponents..

We are in a 50 nl game 9 max.. we are in Middle position and we raise 3x we get a call on the button and both blinds fold.. Board comes 8/5/J rainbow we have 88 for middle set. This is how i would play where both me and the villain have 100 blind stacks.

Vs Aggressive opponent (frequently C bets and raises and is actively looking to outplay opponents) betting small to half pot seems good to induce raises, leading small more than checking allows him to make some mistakes post flop and give him a good price to catch up while still building a pot.

Vs Tight opponent (will bet when check to but won't barrell off too often, will play fairly straight forward and fold frequently to C bets).. check caling seems optimal. On the basis that he will rarely call when bet to and we give him the percieved lead.

Vs Loose Passive opponent (calls very wide in and out of position, won't fold to C bets and is the type of player that will play low pocket pairs to the river/ a non believer) playing honestly seems to be the correct play vs loose passive types. Betting close to pot on every street, going for maximum value. The reasoning is he won't get tricky by check raise bluffing or fold overs on flops too often, thus we need to go for maximum value on every street. Bet sizing vs this player will depend on how loose passive he is.

any other thoughts on playing this situation OOP vs certain opponents and how that will vary?

Vs a ''believer'' I c/c and lead turn if he can't valuebet top pair properly (since he will call top pair), and vs a ''non believer'' I c/r.

yeh thats an interesting line to take against a tighter player for sure thanks,

sometimes the tighter players need to be very strong for them to lead multiple streets but its still capable getting at least 2 streets from them for value if your the aggressor post flop

if the board is dry you should generally be slowplaying, just because you wouldn't raise anything (draws, etc.) on this board. i get very confused when people raise me in today's games, especially on the turn, on dry boards-- but they're usually nice enough to save me from bluff shoving the river.

you have it a bit backwards. betting to induce vs an aggressive player is a little ambitious unless it's specifically an aggro player who likes to raise leads. if not, just let them have the rope to hang themselves on.

playing 88 fast (raising 2.5x c-bet and betting 60% of pot or w/e) on J85r is a little different than playing 66 fast on K62r. the former has many more SD bluff combos for you and SD combos for him that we need to "charge" (kinda, but not really, but kinda). also, playing top set fast in a lot of these spots is a much bigger mistake than playing bottom set fast, because top pair is a hand that traditionally wants to put some money in the pot and we are killing most of his combos of that.

that was a really good point you made about the difference between playing top and bottom set

a lot of the reads i will interpret will be player dependant rather than generalistic assumptions e.g. notes on:

loves to raise semi coordinated boards and widely for protection and value
loves to double float,
hates calling light
will bet when checked to a high %

as a standard though i would check call way more often than leading because we need to give our opponent a chance to catch up

it's more important for range protection than anything else, giving our opponent a chance to catch up is probably nearly negated by action-killing cards.

also, he can't bluff if we're doing the betting, and some ppl like to bluff.
