Default SC vs 3bet oop

Lets assume we raise 98s from MP for 4BB and get a 3bet for 12BB from the btn.

Villian might be a more or less solid player with stats around 20/18 and is clearly capable of 3betting light.

Do we fold this cause SC are bad to play oop, do we call cause we can cr/crai a flop where we hit hard, 8 Outs+, or do we 4bet light from time to time ?

I wonder how to play those spots in the best way, maybe with 3bet history and without.

EDIT: Lets say this all happens on SSNL/MSNL

a lot of players like to make there first 3 bet light because they think they will get respect so the first time I might 4 bet light and 98s is the perfect hand to crack an overpair if he actually does have a made hand. About flatting and c/r flops i think you need some history on the opponent like if he does 3 bet light often you can represent an AQ5 flop much better then him by check raisin. something you would want to know is if he double and tripple barrels light. I dont like doing anything risky without history but I would like the 98s 4 bet on the first time to his first 3 bet.

i like calling scs here if a) villian is 3betting light and b) is cbetting light in 3bet pots.
then we can c/r a lot of flops profitably.
this ranges from flop where we just c/r with air, because we know villian will cbet here 100% (and the flop is not hitting his range super hard), single pair flops (c/ring esseitally as a 5outer semi bluff for 2pair) and obv straight and flush draws...
our fold equity will be quite high and we will often have a good amount of equity when called

As a rule of thumb I call the 3-bet if I'm getting at least 19:1 implied odds based on the effective stack sizes. This is generally enough to take a chance of hitting two pair+ or a big draw.
