Definitely an eye opener for me as cash gamer.

Question:

In the vid I don't see suited connectors. Do you just pitch hands like 89s, 78s, T9o all the time or didn't you get those type of hands?
Also the hands you show us you defend the blinds with (KQs, KJs, AJo) are very playable. do you avoid bluffy / marginal blind defend plays?

well, part of it is that it's full ring so you just don't get as many situations overall where those hands are playable.

i'll still play them in late position and everything at the start of a tournament, just you aren't in late position as much as you are in 6-max.

then as the tourney progresses, you get into more situations where because of the shallower stacks, if your opponent decides to play preflop they will be shoving on you - so postflop hands aren't as useful as you don't want to be raise/folding too often.

for example if i'm on the button and the sb/bb both have 15-20 bb, i'll often just openfold a hand like 87s, because really it's virtually the same as 32o... as you will fold if you get shoved on, and they are gonna shove on you a lot due to stack size/your perceived wide range.

so if i was gonna open 87s, it would only be because they were nits or very passive, and then i would probably just be opening all my utter trash as well.

Thanks for the answer, insightful! Actually I treat btn in MTT a bit similar to 6-max, opening hands like T8 . 78s on the button :x

well it comes down to stack sizes of the blinds. if my opponents are deepstacked then i'll play it similarly to cash, but if they are shallow stacks i'll try and make sure i'm mostly raising hands i can call shove with.
