Default CAP hands

I'm going to use this thread to post every interesting or semi-interesting CAP hand from last night. I guess I'll try not to post results:

(Converter doesn't work, deal with it)

The next few hands are vs Richard Ashby. He tends to play pretty straightforward pre 42/12 and he truly jacks it up with big hands and limps with speculative ones, tricky!... is that still a standard squeeze?

Aaand how about that hand and position to squeeze with, and the flop bet size? The river call seems terrible to me and is an easy fold, I was tilted.

Do I just have a bluff catcher? Easy fold? Guy is like 32/12 without a huge WWSF (between 40 and 45 iirc)

Default Re: CAP hands

Hand 1 is a call for sure because he has Qxcc enough and its 800/4200 = 19% to be good. Hand 2 is a squeeze and you are committed. Keep track of his PF sizing tells. Hand 3 is a great spot but it would be a debatable squeeze if you were on button. Hand 4 is annoying because I would hate folding river but after he flats flop you can be sure that chufty has you ****ed because he doesn't balance his range enough by raising nut and drawing hands and Axxx hands so you can be sure that he is boated by river. In hand 5 I think his range is polarized to nuts/air on the turn because he would most likely check his medium/stong hands on turn to let you rep and even moreso because 24 and 46 should be such a large part of your flop range it bet by him looks strong or weak. I'm torn on river but I'd proabably call AJ and fold A8. Also, 3bet PF to 260. A578ds hu ip is legit.

Default Re: CAP hands

I have very little history with CAP PLO but I've talked with some HS players about it and I think I have some basic theory down, so take my words with salt:

Hand 1) I wouldn't play preflop. I like the flop/turn though as played. River is a call for me. At no point in this hand do I think he has a set or two pair with a 4. The only boat I can see him having is Q4xx and thats not going to happen enough to worry about imo. So I'd think the NF is about the only hand to worry about and going off lwrunners numbers, you should be good here 1/5 times.

Hand 2) Very standard vs this player. ESPECIALLY at a cap table.

Hand 3) This can go either way preflop. Its the right kind of hand to squeeze given the situation but I don't think I could fault you for taking another line being that there were some callers and your OOP making it a decent possibility that it goes multiway. You're forcing yourself to stack off a little lighter than you'd like and giving any of the players behind you the ability to select which flops they want to play and which ones they don't.

Hand 4) Low rundowns suck, and I'd assume they lose value in CAP games (not entirely sure tho). This spot on the river sucks and I'd probably pay it off too. Its hard for him to get past the flop without at least a naked Ace. Would he chase the KQTx straight here? So on the river I'd weigh the probability that he does chase AND bluffs that missed straight draw and the probibility he takes this line with a naked Axxx hand and vbets the river, mainly AKxx and pit that against the probibility he has a boat and takes this line and you'd probaby have your answer.

Hand 5) I didn't eventhink about 3betting but again, I think lwrunner makes the good point where you could raise this up in position. I'm not familiar with the opponent but he is repping a strong hand but like you state in the OP, you're only bluffcatching a 3barrel basically. Unfortunately this is a board that will bring out 3barrels so I guess it depends on the player a bit. I'm not sure what i'd do here honestly. I'd probably call after I called the turn but I wouldn't be too suprised to lose to something other than the nuts. Yep I'd call. 42xx really isn't going to be in his range all that often with the min raise preflop and AAxx really isn't either (right?), I don't think he'd go much thinner than AJ for value and even AJ is debatable on the river. Theres just not a lot of combinations I expect him to have very often that I lose too AND take this line...add that to the fact that I'm a station and I'd call.

Good? Ashman has w/e just about any two, I think David Chiu has AA/KK always and I rump is like 36/18 pre, so pretty loose, he can have LOTS of garbage and can even prob fold to this type of action if he's like three to a middle and a random hanger or something-- or some kind of one highish pair hand suited ace or w/e. I just think I run so good vs Chiu and there's so much money in there, thoughts?

On this hand, I think that this would prob be a fold (or a call?) if the bb was a tight squeezer, but ashman has lots of trash in his range AND i don't think he EVER squeeze QQ here, unless it's like QQKA double suited or something. I also think he's got KK here rarely... although I might be wrong about that since he knows I open light-ish utg. This look good because I *think* I run really hot vs his garbage range? (the random three face cards, the random rundowns)

1) gamble. It doesn't matter honestly
2) bet.fold is ok but try to know what the other villians tendencies are before you bet.fold.
3) call>shove>fold
