Hero (BB): $500.00
CO: $210.86
BTN: $682.52
SB: $244.45

Pre Flop: ($3.00) Hero is BB with 7 9 8 A
1 fold, BTN raises to $8.60, SB raises to $29.40, Hero raises to $98.40, BTN raises to $326.20, SB calls $215.05 all in, Hero calls $227.80

Flop: ($896.85) 5 7 K (3 players - 1 is all in)
Hero checks, BTN bets $355.92, Hero calls $173.80 all in

Turn: ($1244.45) J (3 players - 2 are all in)

River: ($1244.45) 4 (3 players - 2 are all in)

BU is unknown but CO is a loose reg 3betting 11%, we have no history. I could call but what do you guys think of my 4bet?

when the BU 5bets, do we have to fold?

is there a way to somewhat accurately tell if this is a +EV call? because if it was a HU pot it's easy with

Flop EV= call% x ( potsize x avgeq - investment)

(that's from one of slowhabit books)

But with the secondary pot i can't figure out how to do it

thanks

I haven't done a ton of work here, but intuitively, we are getting 1.5-1 preflop vs a 11% linear range. Btn can 4bet, probably 4-10% of the time depending on open % and his style. Post flop we are squeezed in between aggressor and other player. I have serious doubts calling is +EV unless all players are very deep and Btn is relatively passive.

4betting I think is definitely a mistake, mostly for the same reasons minus the post flop issues. Having btn behind, and up against a 11% 4bet range where we are risking so much on a pot 4bet seems unlikely to be good

4bet seems pretty terrible. I'm guessing btn has aces and has you at a 60/40. He should've clicked it back and let sb jam. Even if he flatted with something else (or with aces), you gave sb chance to fistpump jam. Now you have to make awkward decision pre with a hand that plays well postflop. As played I still call the 5bet, not super confident that is correct but I doubt it's a big error in any case.

Also if you flat 3b, btn can 4bet 120, and sb can jam leaving another raise to btn. However I think sb flats large % of the time as you don't have a lot of dead money out there in this scenario and his jam is pretty effective when he hits a piece of the flop. This is all preferable than previous case because you have more money to jam the flop ahead 60/40 yourself.
