i like betting half pot to protect/get value form some parts of his range, get a cheapish showdown, and also build the pot to both bluff and value bet some rivers by keeping the intiative

fold to a raise tho

One bad thing of your hand is that your two pair outs are putting down a likely str8 on the board.

against an aggro player whose range here is JT a lot, that will CRAI with any FD and will bluff the river a lot Im very happy to check it back.
against a passive guy its close, you might betfold smthing like 12$, but i still prefer checking it back, let me try to explain my thoughts. His range should be
- some 2 pair hands
- a lot of AA/KK
- some Queens
- a lot of JT, the problem with JT is that hes gonna have a 8/9/Q/K a lot of time with it, giving him a wrap or pair + OESD (since hes passive hes not CRing these on the flop probably).
if you bet hes gonna call you almost every time hes got you beaten (maybe he folds a dry AQ) and with the good JT hands (that have about 30-35% of equity) and some gutshot that picked up a FD, so its not really a value bet, you are likely behind his calling range. Morover there are almost no river cards that are giving you a clear cut value bet (only three 5s and one Q) or a clear +ev bluff imo.

In this spot I like it better to bet the turn with air, diamond draw, wrap, any two pair, or a hand like yours but with the ace of diamonds, or a hand like yours where the two pair outs are not putting down the str8.
Does this make sense?

i feel like i would check here because i have a hand where i don't really wanna get blown off by a CR but i def want to get to showdown. i just don't see much value in a bet, to protect, or to bluff, or w/e

if the stacks are deeper I like potting the turn to set up a river pot since your hand is effective air and its hard for him to feasibly make a hand to stack off with (unless you figure him to be so stationy as to not fold any two pair hand)

however with the stacks as they are I prefer a turn check, as it's hard to figure a bet to be good for value or as a bluff. you also have good showdown value.

This is some really solid advice.

I wouldn't pot the turn, but thats a style issue more than anything. Even if he is stationy with two pair, you have some solid outs vs most two pair hands and should be able to bluff scary rivers that you miss as well which will make it hard for two pair to call 3 streets. But ya, if stacks were deeper bet this again but since they are not, work your way to showdown and you def have showdownvalue vs much of his range.
