Re: Being scared to play
One thing I always repeat to myself is: I built all of this from a $50 deposit and a $15 book. If I bust it all, I'll just do it all over again.
Just repeating that to myself helps relieve some of the stress/anxiety of losing. After all, lots of winning players are only playing with profits nowadays.

Also, everyone fails at one point in their life. Even MJ got cut from his high school basketball team afterall. And he's the greatest bball player ever imo.

Re: Being scared to play
Interestingly I stopped playing cash games online and moved to live just recently. Only thing I play online are tournaments and STT's. I've found that not only have i started making wayyy more money, but it's actually a bit more calming because I can easily walk away from the table live if I lose more than 2 buyins.

Re: Being scared to play
So what do you gain from winning or losing? Winning your numbers on your account goes up. If there's no immediate award, all you get is the rush and the feeling of reaching a temporary milestone. This milestone will never end as you can never have enough money. And when you lose, you feel like crap, you feel like you wasted your time, and if you're the sensitive type you may even feel your opponents tilt/frustration while at the table which is channeled into you when interacting with them. It's like sitting in a room with an angry steaming person, well sorta. You really have to see poker as a game, and you have to know your outcomes - to be a successful pro imo.

Re: Being scared to play
just don't check you results for like a month. after a week or so the results of a hand doesn't bother you as much, as you aren't in the habit of checking your results therefore you remember less of the loosing/bad moments and only remember if u made the correct play.
