Default Exterior comforts and money detachment

Hello everyone, I was wondering what you guys think about comfort levels and play.
To be more specific, I play on my laptop on the kitchen table and needless to say, the kitchen chairs have began to hurt my back. My friend suggested I sit in a recliner and play, but I was worried being to comfortable might affect my play?
Any thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated
Another thing I want advice on is how exactly to become detached from money while playing.
Sometimes I know I can get an opponent off a hand but risking my whole stack to do it is a hard obstacle to overcome.
I have trouble thinking as money in a form of units instead of cash. Is it a skill you acquire just from playing so much?
I hope that this post makes sense, would hate to look like a jackass with my first post.
Thanks in advance.

I think being comfortable is good. Some ppl think you're more focused when uncomfortable but i disagree. I can't play long sessions like that. I used to sit on the edge of my bed cause i had no chair and it really sucked. Then i got an office chair and i think i play a lot better just cause my back/rear end isn't in so much pain after 20 mins.

Playing a lot of hands is a good way to detach yourself from the money. Personally, whenever i put money into my poker account, i don't even look at it like it's my money anymore. It helps that i live in the U.S and it's a lil harder to get money out, but that's just the way i look at it. Once it goes in it's no longer mine.

I take net $ money off my HEM so I look @ bbs/100 and for some reason in my head it only clicks as units and dont treat it as money and I dont look @ my cashier unless im on some sick downswing and want to check out the damage.

can't say much about chairs, but generally practice good posture, being uncomfortable will never help for longer sessions

as for money detachment, having a big bankroll is huge and also having experience in beating the game at a certain level will help you feel comfortable in putting chips in +EV spots even if you lose sometimes

Yeah, I dont think an office chair would be a bad idea, I just play on my laptop so i dont have a desk.
Another thing though, I think I use to play better on my desktop than I do on my laptop.
Anyways, thanks for the input guys

For me, the easiest way to get "numb" to the money was to just play a lot. When I first started, I was like ZOMG $10. Then as time went on, and I slowly moved up, it was ZOMG $100, now $1,000 doesn't matter.

I think just playing lots/gambling a lot slowly numbs you from the "money" side.

LOL this is so true.

As for being comfortable yes this is important. But dont get so comfortable that you start to relax. I have one of those reclining office chairs. I notice that sometimes i kick back and put my feet up during a grind. This is bad for me because I start pushing buttons rather then playing correctly. So i now stop doing it as soon as i notice it happening.
