Wow tilt really seems to be a huge factor!

And I'm betting after every session which you've tilted in, you think to yourself wow if I didn't lose those three buyins by playing like a tilting monkeyfish I'd be up a buyin instead of down two. IT SUCKS I KNOW! I've been there, but I've seen the light.

If you are honest with yourself I imagine that you definately can identify when you are tilting or are about to tilt. ie. crazy bad beat occurs and instantly you get pissed off and want to play every hand in an effort to get your money back off the idiot.
But you know by playing every hand its going to happen maybe only once in ten times that you are actually going to get your cash back off the guy.
Now while it is so sweet when you get your cash back off an idiot, ultimately tilting is negative ev. (Understatement of the year?)

So what did I do in my tilt monkey days? I tried everything from posting every bad beat I got in a bad beat thread to breaking countless computer mice.

I suppose finding a cure for tilt is a bit like porn, its all porn but some works for you and some doesn't.

Obviously to cure the tilt it all starts with admitting you have a problem, which you have done, so now its identifying the tilt when or before it occurs which I presume you can.

Then try the following
1. When you feel tilt starting, sit out and do the alphabet backwards allowed, ie. ZXYWV... this doesn't work if you have it in front of you, its designed to take your mind of what just happened.
2. If this doesn't help, simply exit all poker software and stop playing. I'd bet my house that 95% of the time any time you tilt, even if you come out of the tilt it didnt make up for the tilt period.
3. Post all beats in a bad beat thread, it didnt work for me but it might work for you.
4. Talk to someone on MSN or Aim when the beats occur, you will stop focusing on them, probably play a bit on autopilot but it will be better then tilting.
5. Have a tommy tank, take the tilt frustration out on yourself, clean up and you are back in the game.

6. The ideal thing to do (it takes a lot of self control) is: When a bad beat occurs, think to yourself "wow! What an idiot, I can take all this guys money. Long term I am so much better then him, so I'm going to play my A game, he will make a mistake sometime, maybe not today, maybe not tommorrow but he will, and I will get my money back and then some."

Hopefully one or a combination of these will work for you, it worked for me and now I never ever tilt playing online. It's a great feeling.
