Default WSOPE Main Event

John Juanda took down the WSOPE Main Event after close to 24 hours of final table play.

24 hours of play? I haven't looked into this. How many breaks did they have? Was there a sleep break at some point?

Nope, I watched a bit of it live and I still can't understand Juanda play sometimes.
Blinds were like 10k/20k with ante (I think) and Juanda is BB.

Demidov, who has FT'd the WSOP and was very good from the little I saw, open raised to 70k total from BTN, SB folds and Juanda 3bets to 210k. There has been a lot of this going on but usually PFR folds to 3bet. Demidov thinks for 5 secs and then shoves for another 850k. Juanda at this point is CL and has ~3 mill in chips. He then tanks for an age before trying a sneaky Hellmuth like feign to push the chips in trying to get a read from Demidov (I thought this was a poor attempt at angleshooting imo) but Demidov never flinched.

Juanda then calls and flips AJo, Demidov shows KT and hits to double up. I am still wondering though, why does Juanda 3bet if he is seriously lost as to what to do when Demidov shoves? I mean, if he is contemplating folding should he just not be flatting the raise? Meh, maybe when I win something of note I can judge I suppose

It is because he does not understand very many NLHE concepts, and this is one of them. Not many people do understand though, so shhh.

I gotta say when playing live I've never seen so many people tank with hands that they should have had plans for before doing something.

Craig has a great story where he cbet a K72r board, shaniac raises, Craig shoves, and shaniac TANKS for minutes before calling with 88. I would repeat the story but everyone's heads might explode.

to be fair live is different in that you get more information every time something happens

so like how you might plan online to call and re-evaluate based on the next card but it's not really just what the card is it's seeing how they respond to your call, how long they take to bet, how much they bet, etc

kinda like that playing live, where you have to process their response to your play, the way they went about it, what you think it means now etc

i think if you always made plans for the whole street before stopping to re-evaluate your opponents responses as/after they happen, that would be suboptimal in live play

(do agree with you guys 90% of the time though, just playing devils advocate)

one thing greg, when playing live i know what im doing in 3 seconds or less for every decision - (outside of perhaps 1 a night or so) - when i do take time, it's generally either: a. hollywooding (although i hate when others do it, i still do it from time to time) b. trying to pickup new information (that MAY sway the initial plan) c. making it less obvious that i know exactly what im doing 100% of the time, meaning if you know you're raise/calling (88 on k72) but in the future you want people to think you thought about raise/folding for a long time, well, it doesn't hurt to cement that in their minds that you "almost" made a fold, because hey, they may try it again

but yeah, in general there reaches a point where it's annoying people are taking so long. (last month someone did this to me w/ KK on a 822r board. I had 34s. i pretty sure they were just slowrolling me, but it is live play so i really dont know)
