Default Frustration

I'm losing heart at the moment. Playing 50nl and trying hard to work on my game but the last two months have been awful, can hardly seem to win a session. And I'm not sure if it is me playing bad or just variance. Keep calling with worse hands and bluffing rivers in bad spots.

Trouble is I don't really know where to start with fixing my game. I'm posting hands in the micro stakes forums and getting good responses.

But the problem is I can analyse hands quite well away from the table, but in the heat of battle I feel like I keep make the same mistakes over and over, like I'm stuck in a groove.

I've been playing for several years now and although I've made a little money I keep running into brick walls. At the moment any sessions I win are swamped by big losing sessions.

I know this is a ridiculously open-ended question but where do you guys think I should start with improving my game? There's just so much advice out there it is difficult for me to absorb it all.

I'm probably actually making some progress. I am applying some ideas into my game, but another problem is I see a fancy play being explained on a video and then I get carried away and try to check raise bluff all over the place and level myself.

Sorry for the random rabble. I know its pretty small beans compared to whats happened in the American poker scene.

Your 4b is way too big imo and this hand was pretty standard.

Have you ever made a video of you playing and shared it with a fellow poker player? Sometimes it's the "small things" that you're not even realizing are mistakes, which bleed away a huge portion of your winrate.

Bug some coach to do a leakfinder for u, or fork out an hour of coaching from someone with a solid win rate and recommendations. Remember the small details are everything these days. And i personally set goals between each session to prevent even small leaks becoming big leaks.

And I guess this isn't nice but IMO very important, and I'm sure ud rather my truthful opinion.... I don't think 2 players who are struggling should be helping each other out thru sweat sessions. I do reciprocal hand review sessions with other people with a track record of winning so I'm all for the peer angle, but I feel like if two guys are struggling they may end up doing each other more harm then good. What might be an option would be to jointly get coaching, then have sessions with each other discussing said coaching, but just straight talking to each other is for me not the route to success.......

This surprises me a lot but it sounds logical.. You always hear that people join study groups with people at their own stake to discuss hands etc. myself included.. you think this is a waste of time and you should only watch videos and if you dont improve take coaching? but what about posting hands? Lot of the time you get the opinion from other low stakes players who might be even worse than you...
