In no particular order.
* Chewy and Aaron have both said at one time or another that JM is very very good.
* If you look at his PTR JM has beaten Durrrr and basically everyone else he's played with the exception of Isildur who he lost a lot to, but not in terms on BI's. He also lost to Zjustin right after playing Isildur, probably not on his game after the first 500K downswing. I just found this out after listening to the interview I linked a few posts up.
* JM thinks he is better than Durrrr and has (basically) said so publicly.
* JM's only game is HU NL. The time he spends studying has to dwarf the amount of time Durrrr spends.
* JM has more free time (and motivation) to study and maximize his EV here. I think JM probably spent more time going over his winning sessions than Durrrr spent going over his losing ones.
* There is a certain amount of fanboydom that follows Durrrr in the poker community. I thought this would basically guarantee whatever line was set would be slightly off, favoring the "home team'.
* He works harder than Durrrr. I was talking to Aaron one day and he mentioned how JM watches all the videos and puts in a ton of work on his game. The guy has the drive and desire to be on top, the guys on top are already there.
* As poker players I think we are in a unique position to know how extremely important the mental aspect of anything is. I feel JM's mental game (work ethic) is way better than Durrrr's.
