I think you can get value from some pairs AK etc .. but if you think he will not call with worse then fair play. If that was your plan then you have to call the river cose you showed weaknes and he will bet there with any pair.

If he is strightforward would he not reraise your flop bet with AA or KK ? I can't see any strightfoward player just flatting check/calling any of the two.
Have you called and what he showed up with ?
