Default 200nl: KQ OOP sucks ..

Hey,

Hand History Posting and Rakeback

Villain raised UTG and was playing 25/16/5.3 over 125 hands. We didn't play any big hands untill this hand came up.

I flatcalled preflop cause he was raising UTG. Didn't like 3betting this hand OOP and I thought it was too strong to fold 5 handed.

He checks behind flop. This flop hits my range kinda hard and he couldn't rep much so I thought he was just giving up or was planning a delayed cbet.

Hit top pair on the turn, so bet out for value. He raises me which seems weird.
Looking at his stats he could be spewy in spots like this, but it's only 125 hands.
Also, I think he would cbet any draw so couldn't really put him on a draw. So my thought process: 'he either has AQ or he's bluffing'. That's why I called.

River is a blank imo. I try to check it down, but he bets out. Do I call this river?
Most villains who are bluffing this turn are nog bluffing the river once called.

Maartennn

I don't think folding preflop is bad at all although calling is not unreasonable as well. That's pretty much a marginal spot either way because he is not opening too wide UTG.

As he is so aggressive and it's a WA/WB situation on the turn I don't mind pot controlling one more street which induces bluffs as well. After you get raised he is pretty much representing exactly AQ although it is possible as well that he got tricky with a set or just makes a random move because he thinks you try to steal the pot. So flatting his raise seems reasonable in my opinion.

As you are not calling the raise without at least a Queen I think he is not firing the river with a worse hand and folding seems the best option. So overall I think you played the hand right given that you folded on the river.

You shouldn't be calling turn if you're planning on folding a brick on the river. I'm calling here, because I've seen villain make retarded plays in the past and because he's only repping AQ or a busted draw (semi-bluffing turn).

Fold Preflop.

If you check the turn, it is a card he should often stab at. The bet, call line is fine though.

Fold river, you beat nothing.

OP,

i disagree with you regarding pre flop. I think KQo is very bad to call pf in this situation, since you'll be dominated a lot and out of position. If you had KQs I think a call is OK since the speculative value of our hand goes up by a lot.

I agree with others that villian would bet a lot if you check to him this turn. Since you have bet, I'm not sure about what his raise means. I agree with you that his most likely hand is either AQ or a bluff. That said, I dont mind the call with the intention of folding to a river bet, since I dont think he would keep bluffin enought to justify the call.
