throw in a value bet?

at the time I wanted to throw in like a 1/3 pot value bet..i was pretty sure he had a 9 but i chickened out and got mad at myself should i have done it or is that too thin?

I think it is really thin. Villain could easily play an ace this way imo, so I think you would just be value towning yourself.
