Default Turn Spot - XC vs XR for value

Poker Stars, $0.50/$1 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

MP: $102.23 (102.2 bb)
CO: $196.70 (196.7 bb)
BTN: $42 (42 bb)
Hero (SB): $104.50 (104.5 bb)
BB: $156.90 (156.9 bb)
UTG: $250.50 (250.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J J
4 folds, Hero raises to $3, BB calls $2

Flop: ($6) 7 4 8 (2 players)
Hero bets $4, BB raises to $10, Hero calls $6

Turn: ($26) J (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $17, Hero ?

No history. Perhaps an argument can be made for raising / getting it in on the flop, but when we do get to the turn like this, I wonder what the best line is to get max value. XC or XR?

I like a c/raise because the board is quite draw heavy. You risk him checking back a strong hand when flush or 4 straight hits the river. Of cause he will show a straight some % of the time, but if you are check/calling JJ this is the best turn for us vs his range obviously.

And I dont like getting it in on the flop. Your equity is terrible imo.

Agreed c/r is far better on the turn here for reasons mentioned.

I would fold flop though here until he shows to be aggressive. Your equity blows vs a GII range but it's also going to be very difficult to play out turn/rivers OOP and there's a good chance youre drawing to 2 outs or worse on this board.

I personally feel that lately (last 2 months) people have started to raise a lot more on the flop @ 100 & 200 NLH. Both wet and dry boards. I feel like folding JJ on a 874ss board would be a mistake, especially since the flop raise is so small

ch/call. He's just bluffing a large portion of the time and we want to keep his air in. We get all the money vs a lower set anyways.

What if villain has a 2pair kinda hand or set and the river makes a str8 or flush complete and villain doesnt hit so he probably will x it behind. Arent we losing value from those hands when we x/c turn?

@bw07507: I agree with @hopjesvlaa22. Any 5, 6, 9 T or diamond might kill our action.

I think hes bluffing here more often than he has value. There just aren't that many value hands he can have. I like calling to let him continue bluffing. I'm calling any river fyi.
