I used to think like this back when I was a losing/ breakeven player. It comes from the sessions early in your career where you try things once or twice that don't come off, and that short term memory stays with you forever until you force yourself to forget it.
When I was being coached around 15 months ago, I had to be physically forced to 4bet bluff. I was like 'noooooo this never works, lemme save my $'. Then one time I was like 'oh, wow...., he folded, Im INTRIGUED'.
Basically, it sounds like your defeatist attitude is most of the problem.
