dougiedan678 - $200 NL
Dan plays 4 tables of $200 NL 6-Max on Stars in real time while discussing playing in 3-bet pots and adjusting vs weaker players.

Re: dougiedan678 - $200 NL
3,40 ~ Table 3 a fish limps in MP, u iso him in the BB with KT. U cbet 39Qr, fish calls. Turn is a Q and you bet again. Could you explain why you are barreling here, mainly because u have EQ and the fishes range is wide? Imo vs some parts of his range we are gonna be valuebetting, f ex vs JT,T8,J8 etc. Although I think that he prob isn't gonna fold PPs below 9 to the turnbet, and he is obv not folding a 9x or a Qx. Do you agree with this? Also what would be your general plan for river without improving, just c/f I guess?
6,15 ~ Table 3 you call a squeeze with KTs. Flop comes 8QJr, villain cbets and u call. The turn is a Q and you elect to call again. First of all, you said briefly in the vid that depending on villains cbetsizing, u might have jamed if he had cbet big. Imo I would think that villain is not gonna cbet this board very light cuz so much of your callingrange pre is gonna connect with it. So if he would have cbet big, I really don't think we have much FE with a jam? What do u think? As for the turn, u said that he could be bluffing sometimes, and c/f the river. What type of hands do u think he is bluffing with here? What I think here is that the flopcbet, which in my eyes looks pretty strong because of your percieved range, combined with the turnbarrel, just makes me think that he has sth pretty good here. Which makes me wanna fold the turn. What do u think about it?
16,30 ~ Table 3 with the 87s hand headsup. The turn is usually a spot where I'm not really sure if I should check back and bet river, or just go ahead and bet turn. The times I check back turn and bet river is beause I wanna define his range, f ex I don't think he will almost ever lead river as a bluff. What are the things u consider before making your decision here?
19 ~ You 3bet K5s sb vs btn. Flop comes J85ss, you cbet and villain raises. This is usually I board I would almost never cbet without decent EQ. So when u cbet this board I assume u have some kind of plan that includes barreling?
The KQ hand u talked about in the end of the video in the replayer. Would you ever be jaming over the flop3bet? Imo I think our hand looks like a draw a decent amount once we call the 3bet on the flop. So having to put in a 4th or our stack and folding turns that doesn't inprove us doesn't seem great, although I could obv be completely wrong about that. What do u think?
Great video man. Def glad to hear see u are back making videos again. Hope I didn't have too many questions for u. tyty

0:44 table 4
Why do you 3-bet? Don't you think your edge is big enough to play this hand OOP vs a fish? Also this hand plays better with a high PSR, so I would call here. Bb also doesn't seem like a squeeze happy guy, which makes flatting even better I guess. Would you call in the big blind?
Good to see you back, and turn your stars volume off next time if possible

Re: dougiedan678 - $200 NL
hey guys im sorry about the stars noises, i tried to turn them off in part 2 because i re watched part 1 but i left the attention sound on without realizing how loud it was since i had my headset on. ill make sure its not there in future so just bear with me for these 2 vids, ty.
i would re record part 2 but i think the content is really good and it would be a waste not to put it out.

the main reason for barreling is that we have too much equity to c/f, not really quite enough to c/c, dont wanna c/r, so betting just becomes the best option. i think his range can be extremely wide, as wide as AT and stuff like that, so i think by betting only 1/2 pot its + ev since he folds enough and we have equity when called.
yeah i agree what u say bout his turn calling range.
c/f ing most rivers yeah, their may be some spots where i could get away with a bluff if i knew he peeled turn real wide but not until i know tht.
6,15 ~ Table 3 you call a squeeze with KTs. Flop comes 8QJr, villain cbets and u call. The turn is a Q and you elect to call again. yeah if the psr had been a bit smaller and he had bet bigger, which people often do in squeezed pots and make it a 2 street game. i would have preffered to have jammed, since we are going to be facing a jam on the turn we will never be able to call again if we miss, where as when its a 3 street game we can still call turn and play rivers.
i agree he isnt bluffing this type of board as often as others, but he still will be sometimes, and with our equity we wouldnt need him to fold thaaat often for it to be +ev.
as for my turn call, yeah i think folding would be better, it depends how wide he thinks i am pre, probably not too wide so yeah folding is possibly better. my thoughts at the time were that he could bet turn c/f river with AA/KK type hands, he would also bluff diamonds and stuff like AK sometimes, for similar reasons i mentioned about us betting turn with KT vs the fsh.
What are the things u consider before making your decision here?
the main consideration is that i dont really wanna cap my range and that when i ber river on a blank most stuff im repping for value bets the turn(i cant chbk with 8 high so id be forced to bet) , i disagree about him not bluffing river when it goes ch/ch on turn. if he just bets a Jx river, we are gonna have a fairly hard time playing our range in that spot imo.
i dont hate your line and i think its fine and has pros to it, but i just felt that this guy could hand read and will pressure me in the right spots when my range is weak, so didnt wanna take that line.
19 ~ You 3bet K5s sb vs btn. Flop comes J85ss, you cbet and villain raises. This is usually I board I would almost never cbet without decent EQ. So when u cbet this board I assume u have some kind of plan that includes barreling?
yeah im not bluffing there tooo often, 3rd pair is just a decent semi-bluffing hand, and i dont really wanna c/c so betting becomes best.
What do u think?
id be jamming flop with my FDs and combo draws which i planned on raise/getting in. i dont think our hand looks like a draw when we call the 3ball, yes of course ill have some draws like this one, but FDs will jam so i dont have them often, and i can have any part of my value range which i just decide to flat since i think he is bluffing a decent amount on the flop. i can just as easily have Jx or a set.
also.
when we are faced by the 3bet(which happens pretty rarely imo, prob like <5% of the time), im fairly confident calling is +EV, im not however sure what his range actually is, and if he has a wideish value range(some strong FDs maybe also) jamming becomes really bad. so i decide to call knowing that for the rest of the hand im in position (this is the most important thing) and this will make my decision making alot easier on future streets.
if i jam i dont get to play a big pot IP with good equity and a fairly wide range versus someone playing OOP with a fairly well defined range, and i think i have a big edge in that situation
Great video man. Def glad to hear see u are back making videos again. Hope I didn't have too many questions for u. tyty

i 3bet purely becoz im in the SB, i would call if i was in the BB closing the action. granted the BB might not call often, but still, im gonna have 7 high, be acting first on all streets, in what is often going to be a 3 way pot.
the downside to 3betting is that villain is a weaker player and will call often and ill be OOP, but I feel comfortable risking having to play difficult spots post, because i get the glorious reward of playing HU with a player alot weaker than i am
thanks, yeah i think ill remember for the next one lol !
