Default RikaKazak - Theory Part 1

Jared delivers a theory based video with actual hand examples to further cement the theory he goes over. He covers cold 4-betting, turning made hands into bluffs, the new type of floating, and ways to maximize your EV when selecting a screen name.

Hi Jared.

About the cold4betting. You didnt gave any notice to the guy next to you in the BB, he had a 30bb stack, so when you cold4b from the SB to 21bb, you commit yourself with your hand so MP and BTTN will think that you are most likley cold4betting for value.

On the other hand, if you call the 3b with AK for 9bb you cant really fold vs a BB shove for 21bb more if MP and BTTN fold given the dead money and all.. So you have to play your hand pretty face up am I right?

Secondly, about the floating. I didnt like the x/r play you made with 32s on aaqdd kx. You have like no equity. I would liked it more if I had diamonds myself or even a gutshot but with 32s you have nothing to fall back on. I would liked it more if I had some history with villain and notes about him where he floats. You said you know he is a good player and he sees you as a good player so you assume he floats these boards with 67 etc. Is that enough info to make these plays with 32?

I liked the vid. I liked the way were you combine theoretical aspects and show them in played hands.

Would like to see more vids like this, powerpoints displaying theory and then some hand examples. Those are great. Also, I guess you already responded to it in another part of the forum but vids where you display a hand/situation and ask us what we would do in this scenario, wait like 5seconds and then you tell us what you would do and why. This pushes us to think about situations in the vid and pushes us to learn, getting more EV from a vid.

Nothing wrong with this mic imo, heard you fine

I'll try to answer all your questions, but if I miss one feel free to point it out

1.) In regards to the ss'er behind me...your point is valid, however I still cold 4 bet with a ss'er behind me sometimes (as a bluff). It's either because I'm trying to level, or because I'm playing so many tables and I simply forget to notice the ss'er. Also, ss'ers will have a VERY tight range there (like JJ+ AK) so they won't wake up with a hand that often at all. (although I 100% agree it's better when there is no ss'er in the BB...remember though, this was a theory idea, and I tried to find the best "actual" hand I could...it wasn't a perfect example though I agree).

2.) In regards to the floating, I agree 100% that with equity it's better. However I still thought with the specific dynamics and everything else considered, it was still +EV without equity. It was one of those spots: equity > no equity > ck/fold (basically I prefer equity for the reasons you stated...but it wasn't mandatory in this spot imo)

3.) This video was made before I read that post about "pausing to give time to think"....my next video though should have pause spots in it Thanks again for reminding me about that though

I hate the idea of changing screen names and hope at least Stars will never allow it.

I agree with you 100%.

However, as long as something is ethical, and within the site's rules...I'm going to do "it" to maximize my edge.

(on a personal note, I really miss the day when cake poker didn't allow huds...I loved that fact about them)

Hey really liked the video and would love to see more theory vids. For me the more theory the better.

In that 55 hand, is getting barreled, because our range is so face up to medium pairs (at least imo)
not also a con against calling, because there is probably no good card for us ott (all overcards help him more, 3flushes might have reverse implied odds...)?
