I'm a 21 year old Finance Major from Texas Tech University. I'll be graduating in May 2009, when I plan to finally become a full-time poker player.
While my main game is 1KNL, I can be found playing anywhere from the 400-5KNL games, and the 400-2KPLO games depending on how I am feeling. I also play in most of the larger weekly tournaments. I have been at this level for almost a year now, since about Christmas of 2007.
I built my bankroll as a pure cash grinder, which is something I am very proud of. I started taking poker seriously in January 2007, with a $500 bankroll and Full Tilt's matching $500 I started my grind at 50NL. I have made my way from 50NL to the 1K and 2K games I play today by managing my roll, moving up, taking shots, and of course moving down when I needed to.
I think the greatest aspect of poker is that no matter how many hands I've played I could open the tables up tomorow and find a spot where I will be genuinely uncertain of what to do in the moment. The game always challenges me, there are always things I can improve to be better than my opponents.
Of all the people I could think of that have had a positive impact on my game, 3 people stand out the most in my mind. First I have to pay my respect to Aaron Jones (aejones). I tracked Aaron down for coaching in late 2007 and I can confidently say it is one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Second I'd like to thank Vishal Iyer (jfish) for everything he has done for me. Vishal solidified my game as well as my attitude, and opened me up to a deeper understanding of ranges and the underlying math.
I'd also like to pay thanks to Luke Staudenmaier (IWEARGOGGLES). Getting to talk strategy and theory with Luke has greatly improved my MTT game. I still have a lot of room for improvement, and it is great to know that I am learning from one of the best.
