Good stuff Dodgy. I really enjoy your videos and actually take a lot from them. BTW, don't worry about extending the frame and "talking" too much. When you talk about the "what ifs" and explain how you would react to them, that is the most invaluable part of your videos. Continue with that type of analysis, it is a very good way to teach.
Anyways, welcome aboard!
Roy
P.S. More videos at the $200 NL level would be highly appreciated :) |

you say that you check back 544hh because you expect him to c/r a flush draw or check call w/ A high. but then you say that you'd check back 6s through Ts (or something like that)-- this makes no sense |

another excellent video. congrats dodgy.
leggo just got even more awesome. |

While I enjoyed dodgyken's first vid I thought that this latest one was extremely mediocre, many spots played quite weakly with some fairly confused thought-processes in there.
More quality vids please leggo :( |

Hey dodgy, nice vid and glad to hear you will be contributing regularly. You play a style which I feel I can relate to, and your hand analysis is quite thoughtful.
I had a question about the TJo hand where you 3b bluff the Q75r flop. Sometimes in this spot I am tempted to float the villain's C/R and make plays later on in the hand (ie. shove over his turn bet or chk back and try to rep a Q etc.) Is this a viable line, or is it FPS against a TAGGY 1/2 reg whose hand reading skills are relatively unknown? |

Great vid again. I guess a lot of the spots were sort of standard but the commentary was great and it wasn't boring or anything like that at all. And ya def keep doing what ifs, I find it easy to follow your train of thought and the best way for me to learn (but I also understand why some ppl don't like it). Congrats and ty for joining the team imo :)
The AKo pf 4bet/call near the end you implied you're happier to get ai with AKo than QQ, is that more for postflop reasons? Cos I tried some stoving and I can't really find a range where QQ wasn't a point or two stronger (AKs>QQ tho) |

When he checks this flop it's almost always going to be with the intention of check raising or check folding (I would think). If I bet and he check raises I have to fold, whereas if I check back the flop he may just check fold a flush draw on the turn that he was going to check raise all in with on the flop. This is because his odds will have halved (most people are happy to get all in on the flop with a flush draw, but not so much on the turn), and I think he'd also expect me to stab with air on the flop. Therefore when I check back the flop and bet the turn, my perceived range is mainly made hands in his eyes. It doesn't matter too much whether I actually would bet the flop with 66-TT or whatever, but I think he would think that I'd check back the flop with those hands sometimes.
Also, if he's just decided to check fold with nothing, then I'm going to be able to win the pot on the turn or river anyway (so it's not important for me to bet the flop to fold his air). Plus, sometimes I might hit a K/Q and he might think it's a good card to bluff on, or he might even hit a worse made hand if he 3-bet with something like QXs or KXs. |

I definitely appreciate criticism if it helps me get better. Can you let me know what you thought could be done better (PM or here is fine), and I'm happy to clear up any pots that I didn't explain properly. |

I think that in theory floating the check raise is actually better as you represent a wider range, and a less bluffy range, However, in practice I find that regulars (at least at lower stakes) are more willing to fire the turn if they're bluffing than they are to 4-bet shove over your 3-bet. That's why I went for this line in this particular hand.
I think that you need to use what you know about your opponent to decide upon what the best line is. If you know that they'll only ever stab once (the check raise) and then they'll give up if called, then floating is definitely better. If they've ever seen you 3-bet a really strong hand on a dry board then 3-betting may be better. Etc. |

Yeah it's definitely for postflop reasons. I feel like people are reluctant to get all in preflop with a hand like JJ when deeper. Now we were only 135BBs deep here, so I think 4-betting QQ would possibly be better than calling as I think he may well stack off with JJ for 135BBs. Once we get to 150BBs or more though I think calling QQ is better as by 4-betting you may well fold out hands like TT and JJ, whereas by calling you can keep them in and extract value on flops. I actually think calling a 3-bet with AK is fine when deeper too. These ranges change depending on the player and your history of course.
You're right that QQ has better equity against an all in range for him than AKo does (by around 1.5-2%). However, I think I would be able to make more profit by flatting QQ than by 4-betting it (and make more than by flatting AK). |

Really liked the video. You apologize a bunch for explaining easy spots too much but that's exactly what makes the video awesome.
Also FYI I used to have a note-teaking-sheme like yours and dropped it for some reason and reactivated it now and it's so much better than my sloppy note taking...so even if it feels trivial I think this will improve my winrate a bit. Thx for that :) |

Excellent Vid. Like how you talk about situations that could happen, but didn't. Look forward to more from you. |

great vid, again!
Dont worry about extending too much, I realy like the way you discuss situations that don't realy happen in the vid. The "what...if" situations, it gives a better idea about what your different actions would be if villain made another move than in the vid. |

I loved this video! I especially like how you describe what you're thinking. In other videos you often here things like "I'm going in for a raise here" with no explanation, while you refer to ranges, what may happen on future streets, what you want to represent, etc. Good work! |
