James, I like all of your videos, but am I the only one that has trouble watching the black blackground? It's just too dark for me. The blue background is much easier to follow the action. Thanks |

in the AJ hand i like a blocking bet on the river, and i think i call the river as played, he's value betting worse imo like you stated.
thoughts? |

icarus, what do you expect him to value bet worse on that riv ever?
i don't remember but i don't think james said that he thought he'd vb worse |

I disagree with your KK c/c on the AJx board in the 4bet pot at 42:30. If he has weak sd-value he'll often check since you could be trapping and the pot is already pretty large, I'd even rather bet/fold because its going to be so hard to play turn/river
how did he fold thats so weird
I would have c/f the flop, bad?

bottom left table 51:00 you wanted to 3ball a KT558 board with a ton of possible draws, can you explain that? I don't think he ever folds a King there so I'd twobarrel if anything but unless I know he peels 99 there probably not even that. I mean his range is probably broadways and pps and he should fold his pps on the flop so I don't understand your plan to 3barrel |

Sorry man I use the black but my background is blue so you can see glimpses of that |

Im guessin you are talking about the hand vs raiden?
Blocking bets are terrible vs good players as it gives away the strength of your hand a lot more than checking (unless u start to block bet with ur nutty hands which kinda sucks) and ur probably going to get raised by worse Jx as a bluff sometimes to move you off a Kx type of hand. Vs Raiden maybe its ok cuz i dont kno how good he is but I just try to keep my game tight and he seemed kinda passive so I dont expect him to bluff much.
I'd probably be checkcalling there once in a while if his betting frequency gets higher so I'm not worried about being exploited by checking that river. |

Right I dont think he's value betting a Jx, so it'd be a twopair, flush, trips hand I imagine when he bets |

i dont really even feel that great bet/folding vs a guy I dont really know. With AJ I assume he'd slowplay a good amount and with AQ/JJ he may jam sometimes and call sometimes but thats about it for his raising range when I bet and I just have no idea what he's calling my 4bet In position with.
Checkfolding flop would be really bad. I tend to put myself into hard spots and feel fairly comfortable in my decision making. I think at that point I just wasnt really feeling like letting my hand go vs that particular player since hes so loose so I was thinking how to extract most value and thats by checking
I put him on a KQ type hand probably that was peeling pf, maybe even a hand like KJ going for stupid value |

Yeah I mean there was just a bunch of draws so if I caught a nice brick on the river I could def barrel I think and he'll fold his busted stuff (where as when I check turn he pretty much wins 100% on river). He's also peeling with any Tx on the flop for sure and proly the turn as well. And I assume we can move him off some K8,K9s type of hands.
The after-result of the hand further cements my theory in that he could be peeling lightly with 22-99 stuff, gutshots with like AJ,AQ,J9 stuff
I dont think I fired cuz at the time I didnt have a strong enough read so decided to not unload but I still think its a good play to blast 3 times |
